You can find out about the amazing range of badges for each section on the Girlguiding website:
Girlguiding Scotland also has some badges and challenges especially for Scottish members:
Scottish Go for it! weather
Scottish Guides can get under the skin of our changing seasons with Girlguiding Scotland’s Go for it! weather.
This Go for it! was developed by Becky Coats, an Edinburgh Leader-in-Training as a University of Edinburgh geosciences outreach project.
It’s packed with ideas for fascinating activities and trips, from making your own indoor rainbow to trying your hand as a weather broadcaster.
This pack is also available to download.
Let’s grow badge challenge
Girlguiding Scotland’s Let’s grow badge challenge aims to get everyone involved in spreading the word about the fun and adventure of guiding so more girls and volunteers join us.
It features a range of engaging activities suitable for all ages, from growing your own Guide to making friendship bracelets or speaking out in the media.
Snap it outdoors challenge
In 2016, the theme for our annual Snap it outdoors challenge is ‘out and about!’
The badge challenges members of all ages – from Rainbows to the Trefoil Guild – to get outdoors, explore local landmarks, nature and wildlife and send in a picture of what they find.
You can keep it simple by exploring your local woods or river, or add your own twist by trying pond dipping, geocaching or a scavenger hunt as part of the challenge.
All photos will be included in a 2016 Snap it outdoors photo book, and participants can send off for a special woven badge.
Download the challenge pack for more information, including how to submit your photographs and buy the badge.
Scottish country dance challenge badge
Girlguiding Scotland has teamed up with the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society to create a joint Scottish Country Dance Challenge for Girlguiding Scotland members.
Originally devised to mark the society’s 90th Birthday in 2013, it also marks Girlguiding Scotland’s strong links to Scottish country dancing.
Whether it’s learning some steps or finding out about your family’s tartan, pick up a pack and get involved!
Ocean challenge badge
Created in partnership with the Scottish Association for Marine Science, the Ocean challenge badge contains a variety of exciting activities for all sections including crafts, games and indoor and outdoor challenges.
Participants can try their hand at everything from ocean bingo to a science demonstration about ocean currents, a seafood barbeque, exploring underwater sounds or a seaweed-themed supermarket sweep. Instructions and resources are provided.
Keep Scotland Beautiful
Created in partnership with Keep Scotland Beautiful, the challenge badge contains a wide range of activities grouped around the themes Research, Act and Campaign that members will complete to earn their badge.
Activities include organising a community clean-up to holding an eco-friendly picnic, blogging about environmental issues to writing to their MSP.
