Sustainable Development Goals Challenge

We’ve teamed up with Scotdec to bring you the Sustainable Development Goals Challenge, an exciting new badge for all sections! It has been designed for young people to learn about the UN Sustainable Development Goals and encourage them to become the generation that changes the world.

What are the UN Sustainable Development Goals?

There are 17 goals that can be grouped into seven themes including poverty, health and well-being, education, skills and jobs, safe a fair world, sustainability, environment and working together. And the aim is to achieve these three amazing things in the next 15 years.

  • End extreme poverty
  • Fight inequality and injustice
  • Fix climate change

The challenge

Download the full colour activity pack or the black and white A4 version below, and the 17 activity postcards here (including the worksheet for Goal 11).

By working through the easy-to-use activity postcards, girls will get a better understanding of what it means to be an active and global citizen, explore ways they can help others and make a difference in their communities and the rest of the world. They’ll also have the chance to look at issues from different viewpoints and develop their own beliefs.

Rainbows: Do three activities

Brownies: Do five activities across different themes

Guides: Do seven activities, one from each theme

Rangers: Do nine activities with at least one from each theme plus the activity for Goal 17.
