We know you really like Girlguiding’s #InspireGirls recruitment campaign so, this Autumn we’re inviting you to take part in a Scotland-wide recruitment drive. Our aim is to support volunteers like you to roll out Girlguiding’s successful Inspire Girls campaign in your local community to grow guiding.
Volunteers across Scotland have told us that more support is needed to keep delivering great guiding to our almost 50,000 young members. In 2018, Girlguiding’s #InspireGirls recruitment campaign helped boost the number of volunteer enquiries by more than 25%. Let’s do it all over again! Girlguiding will be re-running their campaign this year with bursts in June, October and November.
What should I expect?
To make sure Scotland really benefits from the campaign we’ll be asking all of our members to join us in having a coordinated recruitment drive this September. Whether you’re looking to grow your own volunteer team or help bring guiding to more girls in your area, we’d love you to get involved!
What will it look like?
We’ll be sticking with same images and messages from the #InspireGirls campaign because members told us they felt that this worked well.
In Scotland, our plan is to to focus on supporting you to take the #InspireGirls campaign out into your local community. We’ll be:
- Trialling new forms of outdoor advertising, paying for bus adverts to reach the areas with the longest waiting lists and encouraging volunteers to try phone box advertising
- Covering the costs of borrowing items from our recruitment resource lending service
- Providing recruitment material giveaways (#InspireGirls posters, postcards, local press releases) to help you attract more people to your future recruitment events
When will this happen?
We know that lots of new volunteers sign up as the new term begins as it’s an excellent time to approach parents, and engage students and teachers too. By having a concentrated, coordinated effort organised for September, we’ll lay the groundwork for the autumn burst which will be led by Girlguiding.
You don’t have to wait until September, of course. We know that many of you will already have events in the diary already for the summer months. This is great as usually people need to see a campaign advertised multiple times before they decide to take action and get involved.
