What to do in a crisis

If something happens which could potentially damage the reputation of Girlguiding Scotland or generate negative publicity, our Marketing and Communications Team will work with Girlguiding’s press office to handle all media enquiries and manage our response.

A crisis situation could include sudden death or a serious accident, any kind of discrimination or abuse, an alleged criminal act or a serious complaint.

Please contact Girlguiding Scotland’s Marketing and Communications Team as soon as you become aware of a potential crisis. During office hours, ring us on 0131 226 4511. Outside of office hours, please call the 24-hour Scottish PR phone number on 07852 554 779. We will notify Girlguiding’s press office straight away.

If for any reason you cannot get hold of Girlguiding Scotland’s Marketing and Communications Team immediately, then please call the Girlguiding press office on 020 7592 1733, during office hours, or 07990 553 940 outside of office hours.

If you’re contacted by a member of the media please do not respond to their enquiry but take the caller’s name and contact number and tell them their call will be returned shortly.

Remember, taking action straight away to manage a potentially damaging situation is crucial – so if you’re in any doubt please call us to discuss what’s happened.
