Our PRAs spread the word about guiding to their local communities

Public Relations Advisers (PRAs) champion great communications in their guiding county, from social media to press releases, sharing stories and new ways of doing things.

What does a PRA do?

PRAs are communications champions for their county – and they do things like:

  • Answer press enquiries and send press releases to increase the local visibility of guiding
  • Support the running of county social media pages and Girlguiding/ Girlguiding Scotland campaigns
  • Keep the county on brand and on message, so local areas look and sound like Girlguiding
  • Find opportunities to tell our story and share what guiding is all about

What skills do PRAs develop?

Volunteering as a PRA is a great way to boost your skills, and we’ll support you with training and guidance.

If you’re new to public relations or you have a lot of experience, you can trust you’ll be able to develop your expertise in delivering organisational communications and story-telling, press work and speaking with journalists, social media and design.

What support do PRAs get?

All Public Relations Advisers will benefit from training, guidelines for different social media platforms and there’s support available on the Girlguiding Scotland and Girlguiding websites, a dedicated social media network to offer support, share ideas and fun optional events like workshops and Q&As.

Girlguiding Scotland’s Communications team is also available for advice or a chat.
