UK units in need fund

Girlguiding’s UK Units in Need fund is designed to support units which have been open for at least 12 months and are experiencing financial difficulty or are in areas of need.

Need can be defined as any of the following:

  • An area of high unemployment
  • Lack of services e.g. schools, shops, etc.
  • Area of high crime
  • Inadequate housing
  • High levels of antisocial behaviour
  • Areas where natural disasters have occurred e.g. flooding

Grants of up to £250 are available for:

  • Small items of equipment (e.g. an equipment box or a padlock for a cupboard)
  • Unit equipment (e.g. handbooks or leader resources)
  • Uniform (including young members uniform)
  • Providing transport for members of the unit to a guiding event
