What will the weekend involve?

The course will use blended learning and will follow all guidelines in place at the time of the course. This course can be adapted to suit particular needs, but will be quite intense as the full 16 hour contact time is required, and will involve being out in all weather conditions. The teaching times will be Thursday 7pm – 9.30pm (on Zoom), Saturday (arrivals from 9.30am ready to start at) 10am – 9.30pm and Sunday 8.45am – 3pm.

Accommodation is in bunks, and you will need to bring a lower sheet, pillowcase and a sleeping bag or duvet. If you are not comfortable sharing a room then there is an option to camp, but you would need to bring all your own camping equipment.

Covid-19 Measures

Please note, these conditions are subject to change, depending on the latest government guidance:

  • All accommodation is in shared rooms holding up to 2 people. If you are not comfortable with this, there is an option to camp, but you would need to bring all your own camping equipment.
  • Social distancing will not be required, but we would ask you to maintain a sensible distance, where possible.
  • Masks should be worn indoors (unless medically exempt) when not eating, drinking or in your dormitory.
  • Good hand hygiene should be maintained throughout the event.
  • We recommend that everyone take a lateral flow device (LFD) test two days before the residential begins.
  • If you are feeling unwell, are experiencing any symptoms of Covid-19, have returned a positive LFD or PCR test, or someone in your household is showing symptoms of Covid-19, then follow self-isolation guidelines and do not attend the event.
  • Contact details will be retained for 1 month after the event for contact tracing purposes. You must inform Girlguiding Scotland as soon as possible if you test positive for Covid-19 after the event.
