The Commissioner Pair Up programme is the latest pilot project we’re trialling as part of the Transformational Leadership Project.

This pilot offers you the chance to connect with a fellow local commissioner from a different county in Scotland to help you grow your network. We heard from a quarter of Scottish commissioners in this year’s commissioner survey that connecting with other commissioners and leaders was a highlight of their role. But we know some people don’t have access to those connections.

By trialling the Pair Up programme, we hope to give everyone the opportunity to exchange ideas, discover new ways of working, and feel inspired by the experiences and practices of other commissioners.

What to expect

• We’ll trial the Pair Ups for an initial 3-month period, from September to November 2025.
• You’ll be put into a pair at the start of September, and be expected to meet, either virtually or in-person, 3 times in total (ie, once a month). We’ll be on hand to help with any tech support.
• At the beginning of each month, we’ll share conversation starters to inspire you, but you’re free to discuss whatever you’d like about your experiences as commissioners.
• At the end of the pilot, we’ll ask you to share your thoughts of the programme and how we can make the experience better! Once you share your thoughts, we’ll send you a Transformational Leadership Project badge to reflect your contribution to shaping Girlguiding Scotland.
