Edinburgh Guides celebrate the Spectacular with the Tea Party Challenge badge!

Do you fancy holding a tea-themed spa, making teacup candles or inviting an inspirational woman for a cuppa?

Then get the Senior Section Spectacular par-tea (sorry) started with ideas like this and much more in our very own Tea Party Challenge badge for the section’s centenary celebrations in 2016.

Edinburgh Guides take on the challenge!

125th Edinburgh Guides hosted a special tea party for local guiding friends, as part of the tea party challenge.

“After hearing about the launch of the Tea Party Challenge for The Senior Section’s 100th birthday, we couldn’t resist and soon started planning our own tea party.”

The girls’ arranged all aspects of the tea party from designing their own invite, planning games including naming the teacup, baking cakes and making decorations.

“We invited our local Church choir, the Trefoil Guild and our Commissioners to come to our tea party. We also invited along the Spectacular Mascots Peedie, Angus and McRuff Ruff too!

“Inviting the Trefoil Guild gave us all a great insight into guiding back in the day. They spoke to us about what it was like when they were involved and brought photos and badges to share with us. Janet, our unit helper showed us her old Ranger uniform too!”

Everyone was encouraged to share a guiding memory on the memory wall at the tea party.

“It was great fun hearing everyone’s old stories from when they were younger and experienced guiding in a different time.

“Our favourite quotes from the memory wall were ‘waking up with a sheep in our tent at camp’ and ‘Dundee High School Guide camp in the 1950’s – I couldn’t believe that the toilets were a hole in the ground!’”
