Why volunteer for us

Volunteering with Girlguiding Scotland is about more than just giving something back to your local community. Whether it’s for a few hours a year or every week, people who volunteer with us feel rewarded in lots of different ways.

Help girls achieve

Whether you want to develop skills to support your career and boost your CV or you’re simply passionate about helping girls fulfil their potential, by volunteering with us you’ll work closely with girls and young women, offering them support and guidance at crucial stages in their lives.

And, of course, working with young people and seeing them thrive will bring you a huge sense of achievement – and give you the chance to join in with the fun too!

Be part of a support network

With guiding you’re never alone – there are thousands of people supporting you along the way. No matter what guiding role you take on, whether you choose to be a leader, help with unit administration or do a supporting role, all of Girlguiding Scotland’s volunteers get our full support.

As a volunteer you’ll get the training and resources to help develop new and existing skills. Whether it’s attending a weekend training event, chatting to the lead volunteer in your are or receiving our regular email newsletter packed full of helpful tips and latest news, support will always be at hand.

And being a part of guiding allows you to put your talents to good use, develop your confidence and meet new people, and of course, have fun. Plus there are incredible chances to travel, go camping and try things you never thought you would!

As well as helping girls have fun and learn, you’ll boost your own abilities and confidence as simply being involved in guiding will enhance skills such as leadership, budgeting, organisation, communicating and more.

Try something new

If you’re someone with a sense of adventure looking for a rewarding challenge, volunteering with Girlguiding Scotland could be for you.

From camps to international travel and outdoor activities, have great fun and help girls build their confidence and try something new at the same time – what could be better?
