Tablet is a sugary sweet treat and a Scottish favourite.
If you want to try baking in your unit but don’t have access to a proper kitchen, don’t worry – this recipe can be made with just a few minutes in the microwave. These instruction are for a 600 watt microwave – adjust timings if different.
- 400g tin of condensed milk
- 200ml whole milk
- 900g caster sugar
- 50g butter
- Place all of the ingredients in a large bowl, making sure the bowl fits in the microwave.
Mix ingredients well, and then place the bowl in the microwave. Cook the mixture on high for 12 minutes, stopping to stir the mixture at 4 mins and 8 mins. Keep a close eye on it to see that it doesn’t bubble over!
Remove from the microwave, and add a few drops of vanilla extract and beat the mixture with a wooden spoon. Pour into a greased tray, mark into squares and cut when the mixture is cold.
We spotted this recipe on Scottish mum’s blog.
