This week Girlguiding made the difficult announcement, in line with Government guidance, that all unit meetings across the UK are now suspended until further notice. Following this news, we here at Girlguiding Scotland would like to provide some more clarity on what’s what during these uncertain times. We’re extremely grateful for the support we’ve received from across our membership. For more info on keeping safe and FAQs head over to Girlguiding’s website.
Given the latest Government advice, we are cancelling all planned Girlguiding Scotland events up to and including 30 June 2020. We will be reviewing this regularly and posting updates on this page. Our teams will be in touch with those who have made bookings directly with further information so please bear with us.
As we are currently experiencing a high volume of queries, we ask that you wait until this information is sent out before getting in touch with questions.
With the health and safety of camp participants, volunteers and staff being our top priority, we have made the difficult decision to cancel Camp Brave due to the impacts of Coronavirus (Covid-19). Read the full statement here.
More information will be sent out directly to those who have booked places.
We have taken the decision to cancel all events and bookings at Netherurd, our training and activity centre in the Borders, until 31 May. We plan to review this regularly and any updates will be shared here.
The Netherurd team will be in touch with those who have made bookings with further information.
Edinburgh and Glasgow shops
The Girlguiding shops in Edinburgh and Glasgow will close from 5pm on Friday 20 March until further notice. Please feel free to browse our online shop during this time, we’re still processing orders and will endeavor to get everything sent out as soon as possible.
Contacting Girlguiding Scotland

A message from the Scottish Chief Commissioner Moira McKenna
We know that this is a worrying time for many members and understand the decision to suspend unit meetings will have a significant impact. The health and safety of our members is, and remains, our top priority during this challenging time.
Girlguiding Scotland is a pillar in many communities and we are already seeing members across Scotland demonstrate our guiding values and helping those most in need. For over 100 years guiding has made so many positive differences in our villages, towns and cities, and we thank each and every one of you for striving to continue this work in the most trying of circumstances.
While we are not meeting face to face, we know that there is lots we can do to stay connected. We’re working hard behind the scenes so that we can help you to support your fellow volunteers and your girls, and will be looking at how best we can achieve this over the coming weeks. We know there is a wealth of knowledge out there so please do keep sharing your ideas. Together we can deliver guiding in new and innovative ways so that we can continue to empower girls to be their best and fulfill their potential.
Please continue to keep up to date with our guidance and follow the advice of both the UK and Scottish Governments. This is a fast changing situation so keep taking the necessary steps to keep everyone safe.
Through fun, friendship, challenge and adventure we will continue to do all we can during these tough times. Let’s support each other and we hope you all stay safe and well.
