Scottish Youth Parliament Elections 2023

Choose the next Girlguiding Scotland MSYPs who will represent you in front of decision makers.

Every 2 years the Scottish Youth Parliament hold elections for their next cohort of members (MSYP). SYP is made up of MSYPs from all over Scotland and a number of voluntary organisations, they exist to raise the voices of young people and campaign for positive change. Girlguiding Scotland young members vote for 2 MSYPs to represent them. Elections for 2023-25 are underway and this year we have 6 candidates running.

How to Vote

Girlguiding Scotland members aged 12-25 can vote for who they want to be the next 2 MSYPs representing them. Voting is open for 2 weeks from 6 to 19 November at 6pm and the successful candidates will be announced on 20 November.

 

Voting is open through the SYP elections platform: 

  • Head to elections.syp.org.uk/elections/
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the ‘SYP Elections’ button
  • If you want to have a refresh of the Girlguiding Scotland candidates you can use the dropdown box under ‘Select a Constituency’
  • The ‘Vote’ section is at the bottom of the page
  • Enter your membership number in the ‘Identifier’ box
  • Select Girlguiding Scotland in the drop down box on the right
  • Click ‘Check Eligibility’ and this will take you to a page where you can submit your vote
  • You will be asked to rank the candidates in order of preference, you don’t have to rank every candidate but your vote won’t be counted until you have indicated your first preference candidate
