This training is open to all members of Girlguiding Scotland aged 18+ who have just started their going away with qualification or about to start it.

What will the weekend involve?

A opportunity to gain skills and build on your existing skills to help you gain your going away with qualification. There will be opportunities to have a go at pitch tents, light fires. To think about menus and activities to use whilst at your events, risk assessments before the event, dynamic risk assessments at the event and first aid.

The zoom session (you only need to attend 1) will cover an introduction to the going away with qualification, along with what you need need to do in advance of your event. More information will be provided after booking.

There is the option to arrive on the Friday night, please indicate on the booking form that you wish to arrive on the Friday night (please note – there will not be any food available that evening).

Booking Process

You can book your place below, and you can pay via BACs or card. You will receive a confirmation email, which includes your booking which gather further information (you must fill this out to confirm your place).

There are only 24 places, these are on a first come first served basis.

If you chose to pay by BACs then payment must be made within 2 weeks.

The full fee of £15 doesn’t include travel to and from the event, but we will cover up to £35 towards your travel costs – we encourage car sharing wherever possible.

FAQs:

Where do we sleep?

All inside accommodation is in dormitories and bunk beds and will be shared. You will need to bring pillows, sleeping bags and slippers (no outdoor shoes allowed inside).

Due to the limited capacity at the venue we are offering the option to attend the days, including all the food but return home on the Saturday night. We recommend only using this option if you are quite close to Fyvie. You will be able to claim the cost (up to £35) for travelling.

Do I need to attend the zoom session?

Yes, you must attend 1 of the zoom sessions, these cover what needs to be done before you take the girls away.

Does this get added to my record?

We can’t add this to your record, but there will be a certificate on completion of the event and the facilitators will also be able to sign off anything that you complete from our qualification.
