What is Generation Cashback?

CashBack is a project focusing on growing opportunities for young people aged 10+ in disadvantaged areas, and in communities which are experiencing anti-social behaviour and crime.

It is delivered by a partnership involving Girlguiding Scotland, Boys Brigade Scotland, Scouts Scotland and Youth Scotland.

What can my unit get from CashBack?

Capacity-building support including:

• Recruitment materials and advice to help you grow your unit
• Help with budget-setting, claiming gift-aid and accessing funding
• Funding for essential running costs and equipment that will help build confidence and skills
• Tailored advice and training to help build leaders’ confidence and grow the opportunities available to girls (for example, supporting risk assessments, planning trips, being girl-led and; including those with additional needs and/or ACEs).
• Signposting and supporting units to access Girlguiding and external trainings and resources that meet the specific needs of girls and leaders in the project

Leadership skills sessions in your unit covering:

• Leadership roles and volunteering for girls
• Awards in guiding
• Taking a role in your community
• Everyday leadership skills such as team building, confidence and resilience, self-advocacy, campaigning, mental health or health and wellbeing

Other opportunities promoted to you throughout the year, such as Reach for our voice, a CashBack only event.

Who can join?

The Scottish Government has set the criteria for this project. It is for Guide and Ranger units where:

• The unit’s postcode is in an area of deprivation
• Or the majority of the young members in the unit have postcodes in areas of deprivation
• Or young people in the unit have had adverse childhood experiences or experiences of trauma

Send her your unit’s name and unit meeting place postcode, along with any information about your unit that you think she should know, or any questions that you have. Let her know some dates and times that you would be free for a zoom meeting or phone call, and she’ll be in touch to arrange a chat.
