Get your girls to go international

Keen to find out more about international? Want to give your girls the ultimate adventure? We’ve got it covered with our top international tips.

1. Line up an international champion

Ask someone from your local area who has been on an international adventure recently to come along and share their experiences. From photos to stories, there’s nothing that inspires them more.
You can get in touch with your local County International Adviser if you’re unsure who to invite.

2. Reach out to other units

Why not take matters into your own hands and get together with other local units to organise an international trip? Visit one of our World Centres, or you could even practise a trip to Netherurd or one of the other training and activity centres first.

3. Let’s go global

Help your girls discover the amazing places Girlguiding Scotland can take them with the Let’s Go Global challenge – packed with fun ideas and inspiration for all ages. Get your unit together and explore the five exciting destinations young members travel to the most by getting stuck in to the fun-filled and free activity sheets here.

This will help encourage younger members to sign up for international opportunities in the future that they might not be old enough to take part in right now.

4. Keep up to date

Follow Girlguiding Scotland on Twitter to get more information about the exciting international opportunities available to you as a member! You can also follow the international team on Twitter to see what they’ve been getting up to @ScotlandINTOPS or contact your local County International Adviser to find out when the next INTOPS event is coming to you.

5. Get prepared

If you’re planning to take your girls abroad on an international adventure you’ll need to complete, or be working towards your Travelling Abroad Module, Module 9 of our Going Away With Licence. Find out more and how to apply here.
