Former member Lorraine Kelly thanks Scottish guiding for STV Appeal funds

Former Girlguiding Scotland member Lorraine Kelly has thanked Scottish guiding units for raising more than £3,000 for this year’s STV Children’s Appeal.

Guiding groups from Orkney to Ayr took up the TV presenter’s challenge to ceilidh for a good cause for the 2015 appeal, which raises money for the one in five children who live in poverty in Scotland.

They included the 3rd Fraserburgh Guide Unit, who raised a fantastic £1,400 by holding a ceilidh for more than 80 girls from local Rainbow, Brownie, Guide and Senior Section units, and Girlguiding Perthshire members who joined Lorraine for a special early morning ceilidh at a local fitness centre.

Lorraine said:

“I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Girlguiding Scotland for pulling out all the stops to support my 24-hour ceilidh extravaganza for the STV Children’s Appeal.

“I was so impressed and touched by the fundraising efforts by girls and young women across the country, which raised over £3,000 to help children affected by poverty in Scotland.

“The team at the STV Children’s Appeal is already planning lots of fun and exciting fundraising activities for next year, so please get in touch and get involved!”
