Brownies have a royally good time in Scotland’s capital
The 1st Wetheral Brownies celebrated HRH The Queen’s 90th birthday, by singing ‘Happy Birthday’ after climbing all the way to the top of Arthur’s Seat!
The group, who were visiting Scotland from Cumbria, also enjoyed a visit to the Camera Obscura and explored the Royal Mile.
The Brownies stayed at Netherurd, Girlguiding Scotland’s home from home in the Scottish Borders.They had the chance to try adventurous activities like zip-wiring, zorbing and canoeing.
Ella, 9, said: “This was the best weekend ever. My favourite parts were zorbing at Netherurd and singing loud enough for everyone in Edinburgh to hear.”
Charlotte, 11, added: “I love every minute but especially canoeing at Netherurd and siting round the campfire.”
Janice Brown, a Leader with the 1st Wetheral Brownies, added: “Our Brownies and volunteers all enjoyed their adventure to Scotland and we left with so many happy memories.
“A highlight has to be belting out Happy Birthday to the Queen on top of Arthur’s Seat – our girls definitely made an impression on locals!”
“Netherurd was a fantastic venue for our adventure. Our accommodation was beautiful and spacious and the on-site activities made for an action-packed weekend. Our girls really enjoyed trying out zip-wiring, high ropes, canoeing and zorbing.
