Brownies hear about Tim Peake’s adventure at cosmic sleepover

Brownies from all over Scotland got the chance to learn about the adventures of British astronaut Tim Peake at two out-of-this-world Girlguiding Scotland sleepovers.

The ‘Space is the Place’ sleepovers at the Glasgow Science Centre, held in January and February 2016, gave the girls a chance to learn about science through a variety of workshops and talks including a special Tim Peake science show.

Brownies heard about Tim’s current adventure to the International Space Station and learnt all about the astronaut and his work.

Megan, aged eight, from the 3rd Girdle Toll Brownies, said: “The Tim Peake science show was my favourite part of the sleepover, especially when the presenter made a rocket and got it to 70mph!”

A few tweets from the event even reached the International Space Station as Leaders tweeted live updates from the event:

Space is the Place was extra special for Robin, aged eight, from 1st Limekilns Brownies as she made her Promise in front of all the Brownies in the planetarium.

Robin said: “I enjoyed making my promise in front of all of the other Brownies. It was awesome!”
