Why I wanted my daughter to join the Brownies
I wanted her to be a part of a group that she would enjoy and have fun with, whilst learning to be a more kind and honest person.
Shauna's Mum from Caithness
Having been a Brownie myself, I knew my daughter would love all the activities , challenges and make great friendships.
Gabrielle's Mum from North Lanarkshire
I wanted Lia to join to improve her self-confidence, for her to have fun and for her to make friends.
Lia's Mum from Inverness-shire
What surprised me about Guiding
What surprises me about Guiding is that for a very modest sum each
week the Brownies enjoy craft making, baking, games etc. They get the
chance to go on weekend holidays with exciting activities for a price
that represents less than half the cost of a new pair of trainers and
are sometimes taken on very generous outings for no extra charge at
all.
Victoria's mother from Dumbarton
I am pleased to see that it is still as exciting to the new generation, having modernised along the way without losing any of the ethos.
Gabrielle's Mum from North Lanarkshire
I've been surprised by the amount of work and organisation on behalf on the leaders.
Eilish's Mum from North Lanarkshire
What I would say to other parent thinking about sending their daughters to the Brownies
I would strongly advise them to send their daughters to the Brownies. I would reassure them that their daughters would be happy, learn a lot and have fun. I think it gives them a basis for being a better person as they grow up.
Shauna's Mum from Caithness
Don't hesitate - join!
Lia's Mum from Inverness-shire
A definite must - it will help her social development.
Emily's Mum from Inverness-shire
The changes I have seen in my daughter since joining the Brownies
She enjoys being more responsible and independent and helps with household chores. She is less selfish and shows more concern for other people's feelings.
Shauna's Mum from Caithness
I noticed she is more helpful towards others, has increased confidence and a more responsible attitude.
Erin's Mum from Inverness-shire
She is more helpful at home and very patient with other children.
Kaitlin's Mum from North Lanarkshire
The advantage of Guiding being just for girls
Girls have different interest than boys, so it is good for them to do things together and separately. Some girls may be more reserved with boys around, so it allows them be their natural selves.
Shauna's Mum from Caithness
They are able to concentrate on subjects that only girls are interested in and doing activities as one group rather than two.
Kaitlin's Mum from North Lanarkshire
Girls have different interests than boys, so it is good for them to do things as just girls together. Some girls may be more reserved with boys around, so it lets them be their natural selves.
