Karen is one of six regional representatives who sit on our Scottish Executive. She job shares her role as county commissioner – or lead volunteer – for North Lanarkshire.
She’s been part of Girlguiding Scotland since starting out as a Brownie and recently received her 20 year service award as a leader.
Karen is an accountant by trade, working for the family business. She puts her numerical skills to good use by baking cupcakes in her spare time – and then selling them to raise money for guiding!
Being part of something good
“What’s my favourite thing about guiding? Spending time with the girls, laughing with them and having fun.
It has taught me that the more welcome you make people feel, the more they feel part of something really good.”
