Who can come to Tartan Gig
This is an event for members of Girlguiding Scotland and Girlguiding members from other countries and regions. We reserve the right to cancel any orders made by non-members.
Brownies*, Guides, Rangers and adult volunteers are invited.
*Tartan Gig may be more suitable for older Brownies upwards as it does involve lots of loud noise, flashing lights, steep stairs and pyrotechnics. You’ll know your girls best so please consider how they would handle an event of this scale.
Which acts will be performing?
Keep checking back for updates on the line-up!
How do I get ready for the day?
If you’re taking girls aged under 18 you’ll need parental permission. If you’ve never taken girls to a large-scale event check out Girlguiding’s helpful guide which has information on planning, safe-guarding, travel, first aid and more
What about transport and parking?
The SSE Hydro is conveniently located on the banks of the River Clyde, and easily accessible by car, bus or train.
The easiest way to reach The SSE Hydro from Glasgow City Centre is by taking the train from Glasgow Central to Exhibition Centre. From Exhibition Centre it is then just a short walk via a covered footpath to the venue. Trains are every 10 minutes.
Coach parking will be available on the day. Further information about coach parking will be available shortly.
What should we bring on the day?
Remember to bring consent forms, a first aid kit and a fully charged mobile phone.
You will also want to bring snacks and make arrangements for having a meal or bringing a packed meal to eat on the bus before or after. You can bring plastic bottles or cartons of juice or water into the venue, but please note, no glass bottles are allowed.
Your girls may also want to bring some spending money for the Girlguiding Scotland shops which will be selling all sorts of Tartan Gig accessories. Refreshments will also be on sale
Can I bring a camera?
Personal cameras and camera phones are allowed but please don’t bring any professional cameras, video recorders, tablets and selfie sticks to the venue.
What should we wear?
With 10,000 girls expected to come along you’ll want to make sure your unit stands out – and that you can spot your girls in a crowd!
Think about something that can help identify your unit – for example custom neckies, silly wigs or T-shirts in the same bright colour. Please note though – no feather boas are allowed!
From wacky hats to glow in the dark face-paint – we can’t wait to see your Tartan Gig style!
Will there be a Girlguiding Scotland Shop?
Yes! You and your girls can stock-up on all sorts of Tartan Gig goodies at our stall. These will also be available to buy soon so stay tuned for more updates!
