Units get involved with our #WOWwoman campaign
We’ve recently launched our new campaign #WOWwoman to celebrate inspiring role models and empower a new generation of girls and young women to aim high.
We have created an action-packed WOW woman toolkit with activities to help your unit explore what it means to be a role model, how they can take the lead, and who inspires them. Have a look at our interactive version of the toolkit here or download it here.
295th Glasgow Guide Unit was one of the first Units to use the toolkit to find their WOW woman. Unit Leader, Jill Elborn tells us about the activities the unit enjoyed:
“The 295th Glasgow Guide Unit were really keen to take part in Girlguiding Scotland’s new campaign WOW woman. Guides completed two of the suggested activities in our unit this week, starting with making our ‘WOW Web’.
“When playing this game, I was really surprised at how challenging the Guides found it to identify with a female role model so we also played the game identifying words they would associate with a role model.
“The other activity we tried was ‘That WOW person’ which really got the Guides thinking and created discussion about different people they would associate each of the word with and we added in many other qualities too.
“We finished our unit meeting with the ‘WOW Web’ activity again and this time all the Guides all quickly identified a role model, varying from A-list stars to their local lollipop lady!”
Unit Leader, Emma Ritchie tells us what part of the toolkit 3rd Inverurie Guide Unit are excited about:
“The girls are totally inspired to find out their WOW Woman!
“They are really looking forward to being able to tweet their WOW woman and hopefully get a reply. This toolkit has got them thinking about what is important to them and I can already tell that we’ll struggle to just find one WOW woman!”
