The following press releases have been issued by Girlguiding Scotland over the last twelve months.
25th October 2011: Today Girlguiding UK launches the third Girls’ Attitudes Survey looking at the views and opinions of today’s girls and young women. New findings show that contrary to popular belief, girls and young women in the UK are generally positive and happy with their lives. However, there are significant numbers who are worried about their future and are under pressure for a variety of reasons including money, career choices, the portrayal of women, government cuts and global warming.

150 young women, aged 18-35, descended on Tulliallan Police College from 9 – 11 September 2011 for Girlguiding Scotland’s The Future is Yours event. The Leadership Development weekend brought together young women from across the UK to help shape the future of guiding and to actively promote young women into higher roles within the organisation.

First Minister Alex Salmond opened the 34th World Guiding Conference in Edinburgh on Monday 11th July. Hundreds of delegates from around the world descended on the Edinburgh International Climbing Arena for the Opening Ceremony of the week long 34th World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) conference.

2,200 music fans from across Scotland descended on Glasgow Royal Concert Hall last Saturday (21/08/2010) to witness some of music’s top acts perform at Girlguiding Scotland’s Tartan Gig 100.

To mark Girlguiding’s Centenary, 1000 girls attended ‘Caledonia 2010’ a huge camp at Girlguiding’s Training Centre, Netherurd, in Peeblesshire, and were delighted to receive a visit from HRH the Countess of Wessex on 20 July.

2200 Brownies celebrated Girlguiding Scotland’s Centenary with a Brownie ‘Express’ Carnival at Scone Palace, Perth, on 12th and 13th June.

The Royal Highland Centre, Ingliston will be alive with world song and dance over the weekend of the 20th and 21st February 2010 when 3,000 Rainbows, Brownies and Guides from all over Scotland attend the sell-out performing arts event One World One Beat, to celebrate the annual World Thinking Day in an extra special way during Girlguiding UK’s Centenary year.
