Design the brand new Thistle Award

Calling all Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers! We need your help to design a badge for the brand new Thistle Award.

This award is open to members aged 5-18 who have shown immense courage or bravery in adverse circumstances and inspired others with their actions. If you know someone you’d like to nominate you can find out more here.

What badges do you get?

There will be two badges for recipients of the award including a cloth badge, which can go on the recipients top or camp blanket, and a small metal pin which can be worn on their uniform. The pin will travel with them as they move up through the sections.

Let’s get designing!

We’re looking for fun designs that stand out. You might feel inspired by nature, a Girlguiding memory, an event you’ve been to or someone you’ve met who you think should be nominated for the award. Whatever inspires you, we want to see your ideas!

For this badge there’s no template. The badge can be any shape, can use a maximum of 9 colours and should fit a page of A4 paper. The only three things it must include are:

  • ‘Girlguiding Scotland’ in words
  • ‘Thistle Award’ in words
  • A small blue trefoil (must not be a part of the design)

For younger girls please do not worry if the above are not included, these can be added later. If you’re thinking of detailed designs, please note that due to the size of the pin badge some finer detail may need to be simplified to comply with printing capabilities. Your design may be altered to meet branding guidelines.
