The county commissioner for Girlguiding Inverness-shire is Suzanne Docherty.
The county of Inverness-shire stretches from Inverness to Fort Augustus. From the Isle of Skye to Grantown. There are over 1000 girl members, 346 volunteers and 90 units, including Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Rangers and Trefoil Guild members. These fall into 5 Divisions with 12 Districts.
Here’s what Suzanne has to say:
“Our aim is to foster an environment where girls can be their best and direct their own experience in guiding, by being involved in the decision making. We provide activities and events for each section individually and for the county as a whole, our geographical size is a challenge not a barrier to hav-ing joint involvement for all units.
Our girls and leaders are encouraged to apply for local and international opportunities, so helping them reach their full potential and reach new personal heights.
We value our leaders and aim to support them in their running of their units. We provide them with regular access to trainings in areas such as first response, safe space, program training, as well as other topics they feel they need to run their units and keep their members safe.”
