Arywaves 2008

Ayrwaves 2008 will be an exciting event bringing together Guides from around the world. Taking place in the summer of 2008 this international outdoor camp will provide Guides with the opportunity to participate in many activities, meet new friends, learn new skills and have lots of fun in the picturesque setting of Eglinton Country Park.
Ayrwaves 2008 is being organised by Girlguiding Ayrshire North, the same
team that hosted the hugely successful Ayrwaves 2004. Even at this early
stage plans are well in hand to make sure that the upcoming camp surpasses
the success of Ayrwaves 2004.
Scottish Trips in 2008
National Jamboree, Iceland 2008
This year’s National Jamboree will be hosted by Icelandic Scouts and Guides and is taking place at Hamrar Akureyi in the North of Iceland.
From the 22nd to the 29th of July 2008, hundreds of Scouts and Guides (age 10+) from all over the world will be joining in with the international atmosphere of the Jamboree. With the theme of ‘On the Viking Trail’ the camp will be fully equipped with its very own Viking village where you can learn about the life of a Viking through fire workshops, water battles (clothes may get wet!), ice skating and a whole load of other activities. There will also be optional day trips outside of the camp, including white water rafting and whale watching.

Bavarian Jamboree Spuren 2008
From 1st – 10th of August 2008, Scottish girls will be going across to the south of Germany to join 800 Guides and Scouts for the Spuren Jamboree. “Spuren” means ‘traces’ and the sub-camps will look at everything from traces in nature, human traces – like pollution and forensic testing and historical traces.
As well as the exciting activities there will also be many outside excursions around the region for the girls to take part in. To find out more about the Jamboree, visit http://www.spuren2008.de.
Unfortunately registration is now over but if you didn’t manage to get a place, watch this space for other up-and-coming international camps.
AQUA! 2008
Aqua! Jamboree Is taking place from 5th – 14th August 2008 in Berg, Austria. Scottish girls will join 3000 others from ages 13 to 20 to explore the meaning of water and how it’s used for fun, life and in nature.
Everything from water-sports, well-digging and watery films will be on offer along with a huge selection of fun, water-fuelled activities.
Unfortunately registration is now closed, but keep visiting the Girlguiding Scotland website to find out how our Scottish girls got on in Austria.
Scottish Trips in 2007
In 2007, there were some amazing Scottish trips organised to the
following international camps:
July 28 - August 5, Life 07 National Jamboree, Denmark
We joined the Green Girl Guides in Denmark at their National Jamboree 2007. We shared the spirit of Guiding with 4000 girl guides and girl scouts from Denmark and the rest of the world. Read about Scottish girls' experiences.
Jiingijamborii! 14 to 22 July, Sweden
In summer 2007, Sweden's Scouts and Guides gathered on the fields of Rinkaby for Jiingijamborii - the second Swedish National Jamboree. 23,000 participants worked and played together. Its goal was to offer participants the very best of Swedish Scouting. Read Scottish members' thoughts on the camp here.
Campa Le Chéile, 7 -14 July 2007, Ireland
Campa Le Chéile was the 2007 International Camp of The Irish Girl Guides. The pronounciation of the Camp name is 'Camp-a-Le-Kay-la' (which means 'Camping Together' when translated from the Irish language) but luckily the official language of the camp is English. The camp's theme was 'Celebrating Cultural Diversity' and our members' comments show it's aim was definitely achieved.
Uk and World Camps
Every year, there are a large number of camps held in the UK and across the world. Many of the larger camps are open to Guides and Scouts.
