Perth and Kinross

Introduction

helen jacksonHi, my name is Helen Jackson and I am the County Commissioner for Perth & Kinross.

I have been involved with Girlguiding for the past 19 years and have held numerous roles within our County.

I was a Senior Section Leader until a few months ago but have put this position on hold for the present until I settle into my new role. I enjoy being involved with the girls and think camping is great. Holding my camp license allows me the opportunity to take the girls away and have lots of fun.

The friendships made in Girlguiding last forever and there are so many opportunities for the girls and adults to travel internationally through Guiding.

Fun and games at Camp CragganI have now been to Sangam in India, one of our four World Centres, three times and each time it brings lasting memories. This is all down to belonging to a fantastic world-wide girl-led movement.

Perth & Kinross is a large County, spread out over some very remote and beautiful parts of central Scotland. Adult help and support are always required, so if you would like to become involved working with the girls of today you will be given a very warm welcome in Perth & Kinross.

If you would like to find out more about Perth & Kinross please feel free to contact me.

About Us

Craggan Campsite badgePerth & Kinross is one of Scotland's biggest Counties in area, stretching from Blair Atholl to Kinross and Longforgan to Comrie. We have a lovely remote campsite which we share with the Scouts called the Craggan Guide and Scout Campsite. Glen Lyon, where Juliette Lowe started her Guiding, is in our County. We sometimes have visits from American Girl Scouts searching for their founder's roots.

In Perth & Kinross we have over 2200 members and we have a long waiting list. So if you or a friend can spare some time to act as a helper or Unit Leader we'd love you to join us. You'll find volunteering with Girlguiding lots of fun, and we provide training and support. We're waiting to hear from you. Please contact Helen Jackson, County Commissioner, Girlguiding Perth & Kinross - Hjackson10@aol.com.

Girls have travelled internationally throughout this year to Singapore, Japan, Germany, and Austria. Leaders have also had the opportunity to visit Singapore and India. The opportunities are there so don't hesitate to get in touch if you would like to become involved.

Our County runs a depot in Perth - surrounding Counties are welcome to use it - We stock uniforms, badges, books, gifts and fun presents.
