About Us
We are the small County of East Lothian, situated to the east of Edinburgh. The area is well known for its links with John Muir, the famous Environmentalist. Many of our Units give the girls the opportunity to take part in the John Muir award, being aware of our rural surroundings and preserving for the future.
The Coast also offers the chance for beach activities, from BBQs to scavenger hunts, plus essential beach cleaning with other Community groups or just allowing us the enjoyment of the clean, unspoilt landscape on our doorstep.
Many Units play a big role in Community activities, taking part regularly in Galas and local festivals. The girls are encouraged to take part in many outdoor activities as illustrated in the photos on this page.
Recent trips have included visiting the Millennium Dome in London and a trip to Disneyland Paris. 80+ girls went to Cadbury World then a huge Guide event at Leamington Spa where 5000 others attended. A fun-day at Lennoxlove House for 1400 of our members. Watersports day at Longcraigs enjoyed by 50. Plus Youth Hostelling and camping opportunities.
Girlguiding East Lothian also boasts a recently refurbished Outdoor activities centre which sleeps 26 people in exceptionally comfortable surroundings. Guiding and other Youth groups are welcome to use this facility all year round.
We never rest in providing a great variety, we're here and we 'R' happening.
We are looking for...

Quote from one of our members:
"I didn't realise what Guiding had to offer to girls and adults - I'm having as much fun as the girls" .

Ambassadors
Our Ambassadors endorse the section in our leaflet - 'Guiding is for Life'. The following is an extract from 'Guiding is for Life' -
' Many commercial companies are now providing their employees with leadership and management opportunities through adventurous and challenging outdoor activities. Such activities have always provided a major part of the Guiding programme. Any women, therefore, who has been actively involved in Girlguiding Scotland will already have many useful skills that can be transferred to a working environment.'

As many organisations have already discovered for themselves, women who run meetings, lead teams at camp, recruit volunteers, raise money and handle budgets through Guiding, contribute greatly to an organisation.
