Introduction
Hi there, my name is Katherine and I have been in Guiding for over 30 years. I started as a Brownie Guider, and later in the posts of District & Division Commissioner. I was County Rep for the Brownie rollout, which I enjoyed immensely as it allowed me to visit the Brownie units and see the girls enjoy and embrace the new programme, and I am now County Commissioner.
I enjoy Guiding because it enables me to meet so many interesting and committed adult volunteers, who like myself enjoy sharing with our children the fun and friendship that Guiding inevitably brings.
About Us
Our County covers a wide area of Central Scotland with our Adult helpers involved within units in towns, villages and rural areas. This diversity of course means our adults and units enjoy many and varied interests and events, from camping and pack holidays at our campsite and Brownie House, Gowanpark, to our members being involved and enjoying international trips in Thailand, Iceland and recently Australia.
Our girls are involved in climbing, canoeing, archery and sailing, Landrover safaris and any other challenges or fun, which they or their Guiders can be introduced to. If we can read about it - our girls can and will do it.
We are looking for...
We are ready to welcome enthusiastic fun loving adults and young leaders who are interested in assisting within our units, sharing talents and interests with our Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers. Our Guiders are ordinary people who care about children, and want to make a difference within their local areas, experience is not necessary as excellent training and support is available to all of our adult leaders.
If you have the time to share - we can guarantee fun and friendship in return.
Quote from one of our members:
" As A Young Leader in our local Guide Unit , I would thoroughly recommend
volunteering in Guiding. Through my involvement in the unit I have gained in confidence, have had opportunities for international travel, met lots of new friends, have a great social life, and am proud to be giving something back to my community. "
Guide Leader.

Ambassadors
We have a few Ambassadors at the present time, but this is an area we are looking to expand on during the coming year. If you are an enthusiastic adult who can help promote Guiding in South Lanarkshire please contact us. We are looking for interested adults from all walks of life who are interested in bringing Girlguiding to the wider public - the more people we reach and inform - the easier it will be to recruit the volunteers we need to help bring Guiding to all of the girls on our waiting lists.
