Lesley Hinds (Rt Hon) - Lord Provost of Edinburgh
Councillor Lesley Hinds is Lord Provost and Lord Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh. Lesley was born and brought up in Dundee, where she was a Brownie."Women are more caring and prepared to compromise."
The Scottish Parliament Building - it signifies a modern, democratic, vibrant and confident Scotland.
The Isle of Skye.
Ian Rankin - I enjoy his books, set in Edinburgh, and of course he's also based here.
Its people - they are warm and friendly.
Could I have 2? 1984, when I was first elected as a councillor, and also 2003 when I became Lord Provost.
Best - it's great to be an 'ambassador' for Edinburgh. Worst - I'm usually too busy to enjoy it!
n 2 July 2005 I addressed the Make Poverty History March with over 100,000 people. I was very nervous but the response was wonderful.
A knee length brown overdress with long sleeves, buttoned at the wrists, and a collar; a yellow necktie that we had to knot under the collar at the back - left over right and under, right over left and under!!!
We used to take 2 shiny pennies for our collection - HP sauce really made them sparkle!
They encourage friendship and helping others through voluntary work.

Olivia Giles - she lost her hands and feet after she got meningitis, and has been a tireless educator and campaigner ever since.
JK Rowling - she's successful, family oriented and supports many socially responsible organisations.
Giving birth to my children.
In my political, civic and personal life, I have seen so many acts of kindness, small and great - I can't single one out.

Martin Luther King's speech, 'I have a dream', delivered on the steps at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. on August 28, 1963. It was truly inspirational and reflected the pain and courage of so many people who were struggling for true freedom.
My children, and the achievements and changes I have helped to bring about in the area of Edinburgh I represent, and in the city as a whole.
