Jenni Falconer

Jenni Falconer - TV Presenter

Jenni is a familiar face as a presenter on GMTV. She was born in Glasgow and was in the Brownies.

"I've travelled a fair bit around the world and it's guaranteed that wherever I've been, I've always made friends with a Scot."

On being Scottish...

What would be your perfect weekend break in Scotland?

Knoydart Peninsula or one of the beautiful Western Isles - they have some of the most beautiful beaches and crystal clear waters that I've ever seen, though you might need a wetsuit if you were going to go for a swim!

What makes you most proud to be a Scot

It's definitely the people - I've travelled a fair bit around the world and it's guaranteed that wherever I've been, I've always made friends with a Scot.

Where is your favourite place to shop and do a girlie lunch in Scotland?

Being from Glasgow, I would have to say Buchanan Street - it has it all, from high street to designer. Whenever I'm back home, I always drag my Mum out for some retail therapy.

Career…

Who was the most interesting or challenging person to interview?

Challenging interview - Jean Claude Van Damme came on Entertainment Today a few years ago and he was a nightmare, not cause he was nasty or unfriendly, but because he was so hyperactive. We couldn't get him to shut up and I couldn't get a word in edgeways - I couldn't believe that some one was more of a chatterbox than me!

Which programme have you most enjoyed working on?

That's an impossible one to choose - I've been fortunate enough to work on so many incredible and varied shows.

I've been given the chance to meet some of the worlds greatest movie stars and musicians, travel to some of the most beautiful countries in the world and, most recently, travel the length of Britain with some dreadful celebrity drivers - never a dull day for me!!

What was the greatest challenge of your career so far?

Without a doubt, my first day presenting "Big Country" (BBC1 Scotland). It was my first assignment and they told me I was going on a tandem skydive - at first I thought they were joking! When I got up there, I had no idea how scared I'd be. I didn't want to jump.

In the end, the guy I was attached to had to practically throw us both out the plane. I screamed all the way down, but as soon as I landed, I turned to camera and said how much I loved it! And I did - I just wished I'd known that before!!!

Guiding…

Which was the interest badge you were most proud of getting?

Cookery Badge - because it was an absolute farce, to this day, I can just about boil an egg! It took me three attempts to get it but I wasn't going to give up until I got it.

Being a woman…

Which women do you think is incredibly beautiful in looks and personality?

Marilyn Monroe, she was the original blonde bombshell.

Which woman do you have the greatest respect and admiration for?

Angelina Jolie has got everything, looks, talent, money, amazing charitable spirit - and if that wasn't enough, Brad Pitt!

What's important to her...

If you won a million pounds for a charity of your choice - what would it be?

I'm patron of a Scottish charity called BC2000 (Breast Cancer 2000) so without a doubt, I'd give it to them. They do an amazing job in raising funds to try and beat this disease that is affecting more and more people. The more we can do to help prevent or even detect it, the better.
