Forth Valley

Introduction

Sheila from Forth ValleyHello, I am Sheila, County Commissioner for Forth Valley. Through the years I have been a Brownie, Guide, Guide Guider, Ranger Guider, District and Division Commissioner and County Outdoor Activities Adviser. In every role I have enjoyed the fun and friendship shared by both adults and girls and some lifelong friendships have been forged.

Ours is a geographically widespread County but we provide activities throughout the year which bring us together e.g. County Camp/Pack Holiday, competitions and fun days. It is wonderful to see the enjoyment that girls of all ages get from these opportunities given to them by our enthusiastic volunteers. Many of our older girls enjoy International opportunities . However it is often at weekly meetings where girls are working together on simple activities that memories are made. Every-where I go I meet people who have good memories of the fun, challenges and achievements that Guiding has given them.

If you would like to find out more about guiding in Forth valley then please feel free to contact me.

About Us

Girls sawing woodThe County of Forth Valley is in Central Scotland with excellent rail, road and bus links to the Highlands and easy access to the South. The area around Stirling, with its spectacular Castle, is famous with William Wallace and Robert the Bruce having fought battles which changed the course of history. We have an excellent base for holidays at Callander with the nearby Trossachs giving access to spectacular mountains and lochs.

In 2007, members from Forth Valley travelled to Madagascar, Switzerland, Belgium and many took part in various International Camps. If you would like to read about their experiences, please see the International pages on our County Website.

Girls from all sections in Girlguiding Forth Valley enjoy year round Events such as our Swimming Galas, County Camps, Pack Holidays, Flag and Shield and Toadstool Competitions and our Rainbow Fun Day.

We are looking for...

brownies with labradorYOU!! If you are looking for fresh challenges in your life, and would like to try to make a difference, please contact us. Remember this will add to your C.V!

We have many girls on our waiting lists and if we had more Leaders, we could offer unique Guiding opportunities to even more girls. We would love to hear from you if you are interested in being an Adult volunteer with our enthusiastic band of Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Senior Section.

Excellent training and support is available: don't make the mistake of thinking that you lack the qualifications or know-how needed to get involved!

You will find that Guiders are just ordinary people who came along to help at a Guide Camp or Brownie outing and discovered how much fun, friendship and challenge was involved in being a member of Girlguiding Forth Valley.
