Introduction

Patrice Graham

I am Patrice Graham and have been involved with Guiding for 6 years. In addition to taking a Guide unit, I am also currently job sharing the role of County Commissioner with Linda Forbes. I was a Girl Scout and a Brownie in the United States and my mother was a Girl Scout leader. I have enjoyed every minute I spend with Guides and feel it is a great way to make friends and also to challenge yourself in a variety of ways.

The amazing thing about being involved with Guiding, is that any talent you have can be used. Whether you are an accountant or a stay at home mum. I was a Vocational Assessor in a previous job and am now the County Assessor for the Leadership Qualification. There are so many ways to become involved within Guiding and we are always looking for people for many different roles.

About Us

We are looking for...

We are always happy to welcome new faces, and will do our best to find you a place in the unit of your choice.

At the moment we are in great need of adult volunteers and appreciate all help: even if you cannot commit to becoming a leader, any time you could provide as a unit helper would be greatly appreciated. If you are unsure about volunteering, why not come along to your local unit for an evening? Young or old, parent, student, employed, whatever! The women involved in Girlguiding come from all walks of life, and I think you will be surprised by how much you enjoy it! The girls are fantastic and always keen - there is no better feeling than helping them to achieve their goals! Remember, no experience is required.

Thanks to a recent recruitment drive we have been able to open up 3 new guide units, however, we still have so many girls on waiting lists who could join today if we had more adult volunteers.

Quote from one of our members:
"If I hadn't become a Guider I would have missed out on so many opportunities; learning new skills, making loads of friends, travelling and outdoor activities, to name a few."
Margaret Hyde, Division Training Coordinator.

Quotes from 2nd Alloway Guides:
"Great fun because you can meet up with all your friends and do lots of fun and exciting activities"
"No one is a stranger at Guides!"
