About Us
Angus is located just to the north and east of Dundee. It is a small County - just 2,200 sq. km but is very diverse, made up of the mountains at the eastern edge of the Cairngorms, the Angus Glens, rivers, rugged cliffs, seaside towns and market burghs.
It's most famous landmark is probably Glamis Castle, the childhood home of HM The Queen Mother who was in fact a Guider and District Commissioner in Glamis.
Guiding is active in Angus, we currently have approximately 2000 members involved in Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Rangers and the Senior Section. In addition, we also have three Trefoil Guild Units who as well as having their own programme actively support many of our activities.
We have had girls going on International trips to Sangam in India and Becours in France as well as taking part in our exchange trip to Sweden. We have Guiders fundraising for Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland who are going white water rafting, while those of us who don't want to do something quite that challenging are to enjoy a County 10 Pin Bowling competition and meal out. I'm sure we will have something going on that you will want to take part in!
We are looking for...
We currently have vacancies in various Units throughout Angus for Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Rangers and in the Senior Section. Some of our Units are full and we have waiting lists, in these areas we would like adult volunteers to act as Unit Helpers or Guiders, this would enable us to offer the opportunity and experience of Guiding to more girls and young women.
If you don't want to help in a Unit then there are many other ways in which you can still become involved and play an active role in the County - perhaps you can provide secretarial, financial or IT support or you may have other skills which you could offer.
