Web accessibility ensures all users, regardless of their physical and mental capability, are able to access the content and services on our website.
The following features will help ensure the best use of the Girlguiding site by all of our users:
Stylesheets
This site uses cascading style sheets for visual layout. If your browser does not support stylesheets at all, the content of each page is still readable.
You can apply your own stylesheet onto this website by;
- Internet Explorer;
- select Tools, then Internet Options, then Accessibility,
- next click on any or all 3 checkboxes to ignore colours, font styles or font sizes,
- in the same window you can change your style sheet by clicking the checkbox that says, 'format document using my style sheet' then browse to your style sheet and click OK.
Changing screen display
Internet Explorer provides other ways in which the page is displayed on your screen.
For example you can remove the background colours and choose which colours to have text, links and visited links displayed.
You can make these changes by:
Going to the 'Tools' menu at the top of the page
Selecting 'Internet Options...' from that menu
Clicking the 'Accessibility...' button
Then tick the box 'Ignore colors specified on Web pages'.
Then click the 'OK' button. This will switch off the background colours.
You can choose the colours of text and links:
Un-tick the box 'Use Windows colors'. You can then specify which colours you would prefer to be displayed for the text and for links.
You can also specify colours to be used for links your have previously visited and links when your mouse hovers over them.
Font size
Some users find screen text easier to read by increasing the size that the text is displayed.
You can change the font size depending on your browser.
For Mozilla, Firefox, got to 'View' select 'Text Size' and Increase or Decrease.
In Microsoft Internet Explorer, go to the 'View', select 'Text Size' and then select either 'Larger' or 'Largest'.
