We want to encourage new members from different cultures and faiths so Guiding is available to as many girls as possible.
We have members from all the main faiths in the UK, and members who have no specific faith. There are Guides in countries all over the world, including Saudi Arabia, India, Russia, Iran, Nigeria and Sri Lanka.
Girlguiding Scotland is not a Christian organisation. In the past, some units were linked to churches. In today's multicultural society, we have units that meet in non-religious places such as community centres and schools but we also have units meeting in mosques, temples and synagogues.
Girlguiding UK’s policies and related statements provide a structure in which guiding can take place safely, consistently and in accordance with legislation. Policies must be followed by Girlguiding UK’s members and by recognised volunteers involved in delivering or supporting guiding. These policy statements are supported by further information and resources to ensure that our members put the policies into practice.
This project is closely linked to one of Girlguiding’s main aims: to offer the benefits of Guiding to as many girls and young women in Scotland as possible.
