Five reasons to go to SS16, our annual camp for The Senior Section!
SS16 is our annual camp for Senior Section members in July, Spectacular Sunday is also held over the weekend so members can also join the fun for just a day.
We’ve put together a few highlights that make SS16, our annual camp for the section in July, an unmissable event.
You should definitely go to SS16 and Spectacular Sunday if:
…you want to enjoy toasted marshmallows around the campfire with your friends
Girls tell us one of the things that they look forward to at SS16 is the traditional campfire. Gather around the campfire with friends to enjoy toasted marshmallows, sharing stories and singing campfire songs! Make sure to bring your camp blanket along to stay warm whilst you are singing a few verses of thunderation.
…you are ready to take to the dancefloor to ceilidh along to some popular Scottish classics
Saturday night is the chance to get dressed up and enjoy a gala dinner with your friends. Once you’ve devoured the three course meal, the evening’s ceilidh will start. You can expect to take to the dancefloor and ceilidh along to The Dashing White Sargent, Strip the Willow and many other Scottish classics!
…you want to have exciting new adventurous experiences
SS16 gives girls the chance to try loads of adventurous activities – from overcoming your fear of heights on the climbing wall and high ropes course, hunting for gold in the new caving activity, and working as a team whilst doing water based challenges.
…you want to meet lots of new friends
With guiding members travelling from all over Scotland to enjoy a fun-filled weekend, you’ll be sure to meet friends old and new and make some great memories.
…and you also want to get the special SS16 badge
As part of the Spectacular celebrations, we’ve been encouraging members to take part in our Tea Party Challenge. We’ll be doing a few elements of the challenge and hosting our very own tea party at SS16 and Spectacular Sunday.
You may have spotted the Spectacular badges for this challenge in our Guide shops in Edinburgh and Glasgow, but if you come along to SS16 or Spectacular Sunday and attend our tea party – then you’ll get the final triangle to make up the four part badge!
