We’ve teamed up with Discover Adventure to offer you the chance to take part in a once in a lifetime trek to the Langtang Mountains in Nepal!

Do you want to go on a magnificent trek through Langtang region of the Himalayas? This Girlguiding Scotland fundraising trip offers the ultimate combination of spectacular scenery and fascinating culture.

What to expect

You’ll trek through the wooded gorges, yak pastures and rocky ridges of the Langtang valley, which boasts friendly Tibetan-style culture and awe-inspiring mountain views. And look forward to staying in teahouses in small villages en-route, where you’ll get a wonderful insight to the daily lives of the local people.

Discover Adventure actively supports the re-building project in the historic Nuwakot village which was devastated by the Nepal earthquake in 2015. You’ll end the trip by getting involved in the practical work, a rewarding way to give something back to this magnificent country. Download the full itinerary today.

This trip is open to all members aged 16+.

How much does it cost?

The trek costs £3,000 altogether, here is a breakdown of the cost and fundraising deadlines:

  • £299 registration fee when you sign up (included in the overall price)
  • First fundraising deadline is 30 September – £900 (30% of target)
  • Second fundraising deadline is 30 November – £900 (30% of target)
  • Third fundraising deadline is 31 January – £901 (final balance)

Approximately a third of overall total will go to Girlguiding Scotland and the rest will go towards your trip costs including accommodation, travel and the trek itself.

How fit do I have to be?

This trekking challenge is all about endurance fitness rather than speed and it’s certainly not a race. Building fitness and stamina is key preparation regardless of the terrain of your challenge, or whether it is at altitude. Following the advice in this 16-week training guide will help you to prepare – the rest is up to you! It assumes your starting fitness level and will allow you to progress steadily.
