Girlguiding Scotland would like to congratulate Helen Thomson, from Laurencekirk, Kincardine and Deeside, who received the MBE for her services to the Brownies in the New Year's Honours list.

Helen, a Brownie Leader for 45 years said: "I hope my award will act as a message to every volunteer in every corner of the country to show them that what they're doing really matters." 

Hazel McCartney, Kincardine and Deeside County Commissioner, added: "We are all very proud of Helen. It is nice to see her get acknowledged for the time and effort she has put into Guiding over the years.”
