Child Safety

How do we keep girls safe?

Girlguiding Scotland takes the safety of girls and young women very seriously and has an excellent reputation for providing a safe environment for members to enjoy both indoor and outdoor activities. We have clear safety guidelines which all our Leaders and volunteers follow. We also have our own Leader qualifications and training.

We carry out Disclosure Scotland checks and require references for all Leaders and other volunteers who have unsupervised access to girls. Some of the exciting activities Guiding offers – such as abseiling and kayaking - inevitably involve a small element of risk.

That's all part of the fun and challenge!
However, we have measures in place to ensure the safety of girls during activities away from the meeting place. We recognise the importance of online safety and the interactive parts our websites are closely monitored by adults.
