Many of Girlguiding Scotland’s Centenary activities and events for girls fell into one of four themes: adventure, community action, creativity and heritage.
Our girl members and their Leaders earned a themed badge each time they participated in a Centenary activity or event. The four themed badges make up the Scottish Saltire.

On Thursday 10 September Girlguiding Scotland launched its Centenary Celebrations at the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh, where a Scottish Parliamentary Debate was held.
Hosted by one of Girlguiding Scotland's most active Ambassadors, Jeremy Purvis MSP, this event was attended by parliamentarians from across all political parties.
Our celebrations kicked off with a Centenary procession of 100 of Girlguiding Scotland's girls down Edinburgh's Royal Mile. We started at 3pm from Mercat Cross and proceeded down the Royal Mile to the Parliament, where at 3.30pm our VIP guests cut our Centenary cake then cheered the girls from Edinburgh and Lothian as they performed our specially commissioned Centenary dance: A Hundred Thousand Welcomes.

12 Guides from 170th Edinburgh Guides unit and 1st Peebles unit, were joined by two Senior Section members, five adult volunteers and World Bobsleigh Champion Gillian Cooke, to represent Girlguiding Scotland at the One O’clock Gun in Edinburgh, on New Year’s Day 2010.
Wonderful hats, teas and cakes galore! Girlguiding Scotland members were specially selected to join this very special occasion at Holyrood Palace, Edinburgh in July 2010. What a fabulous way to celebrate our Centenary!
Commemorating Girlguiding Scotland’s Centenary year, garden displays appeared in Scotland’s public and private parks, and gardens throughout 2010.
Guides across the world shared in making their Promise. In October 2010 at the Centenary Finales across the country our girl members and volunteers re-affirmed our commitment to that Promise.
To celebrate this occassion a unique Promise Badge was designed - a trefoil surrounded by 20:10 20/10 2010 – to be worn exclusively at the Finale events.

And finally…the event all Girlguiding Scotland girls were waiting to hear about. Our Girlguiding exclusive concert on 21 August 2010 was bursting with exciting bands playing everyones favourite tunes! From local bands to the big names – we had it all at this celebration!
